When we enter the path of exile, the first thing is to build. Let's introduce the method of building Blade Blast Chieftain. Note: A large amount of poe currency is required to build.
Pros and Cons
1. Pros
- Strong bosser with amazing clear
- Requires no Uniques whatsoever to function
- Therefore SSF & league start viable
- High HP pool / Block Chance to make for a smooth playstyle
- This is the “play it before it gets nerfed” type of build
2. Cons
- It’s a horrible leveling experience as Marauders and Spells don’t go hand in hand
- Pretty heavy on buttons to press (2 Button Build + Warcry, Immortal Call, etc.)
Gem Links
1. Blade Blast – Main Link (6-Link)
Blade Blast scales exceptionally well with levels. Getting a 21/20 is a really big upgrade! Awakened Gems are very potent in this build as well, try to get them when / as you can afford them!
- Blade Blast
- Awakened Controlled Destruction Support
- Awakened Elemental Focus Support
- Awakened Fire Penetration Support
- Inspiration Support
- Awakened Increased Area of Effect Support
2. Spawning blades with Bladefall
Because you want to create as many blades with a single cast to make mapping and bossing as smooth as possible, you’re using Unleash and Spell Cascade to get as many of them as you can!
- Bladefall
- Spell Cascade Support
- Unleash Support
- Combustion Support
Since this build is pretty socket starved, if you want to have max utility you will have to either manually cast your Immortal Call or drop your Tempest Shield all together. This setup will not run Tempest Shield but if you’re okay manually casting Immortal Call, you’d run a Tempest Shield gem in your weapon for automatic triggers.
- Immortal Call (1)
- Cast when Damage Taken Support (1)
- Flame Dash
- Arcane Surge Support
Again, as I’m assuming you’re not using Tempest Shield in your Trigger Weapon, you’re going to put a Herald of Ash there (as that can’t be triggered). If you would run a Tempest Shield in your weapon, you can move your Herald of Ash here.
- Herald of Purity
- Summon Skitterbots
- Blood Rage
- Enduring Cry
As you want to get all of these buffs automatically cast, you need to socket them in your Trigger Wand. These effectively add a ton of Damage through lowering resistances and exposing enemies to Fire Damage (and potentially getting you block chance if you chose to go the Tempest Shield Route)
- Herald of Ash
- Flammability
- Wave of Conviction
6. Fortify & Vaal Righteous Fire
Since everyone likes being tanky, this build runs a Shield Charge supported by Fortify to get you another layer of defenses. It’s not the biggest of deals if it drops of left and right but you should use it on bosses for sure! Additionally, this is where you put your Vaal Righteous Fire for the big damages!
- Shield Charge
- Fortify Support
- Vaal Righteous Fire
